Russian Sputnik News Agency reported on October 22 that Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar confirmed that the S-400 air defense missile system purchased from Russia was tested in Sinop. He said that this was a work planned according to the contract.

According to reports, Turkey had previously issued an international alert through the maritime communications system NAVTEX, stating that an "artillery exercise" was conducted in Sinop in the Black Sea region from October 13 to 17. Earlier, sources in the military technology field told the Satellite News Agency that Turkey had successfully tested the S-400 air defense system purchased from Russia in the north of the country, and all missiles launched hit the target.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar subsequently responded to related questions, saying: "Each contract for the purchase of defense industrial products contains tests. They are part of the procurement plan. This is purely a technical activity."
The latest Russian S-400 air defense system began to be delivered to Turkey in mid-July 2019, which led to a crisis in Turkish-US relations. The United States asks Turkey to abandon the deal and instead purchase the US Patriot system, threatens to delay or even cancel the sale of the latest F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, and impose sanctions. Ankara refused to make concessions and continued to negotiate with Russia on another batch of S-400 air defense missile systems.2020/10
