China-Japan Friendship Hospital Cao Bin: New coronary pneumonia may cause long-term effects on patients
Recently, the 2020 Lancet-Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Conference on Medicine and Health was held online. Cao Bin delivered a speech at the meeting, calling on the medical community to pay attention to the long-term follow-up study of patients with new coronary pneumonia.
Cao Bin and others conducted a follow-up study on the long-term consequences of patients with new coronary pneumonia after discharge at Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital. The follow-up results showed that more than 70% of discharged patients reported at least one symptom including fatigue, muscle weakness, sleep disturbance, joint pain, lack of appetite, anxiety, depression, and difficulty walking. The first three are the most common; there are 29 % Of patients cannot successfully complete the 6-minute walking test; more than 20% of patients report psychological complications. By observing the patient’s lung CT images, Cao Bin’s team found that six months after the onset of new coronary pneumonia symptoms, half of the patients still had at least one CT abnormality, but most of the patients had reduced CT abnormalities.
In addition, Cao Bin’s team study also investigated the time changes in the seropositivity and titer of the new coronavirus antibody: Compared with the acute phase, the seropositivity and titer of neutralizing antibodies were significantly reduced; N, RBD and S during follow-up The seroprevalence rate of -lgG still exceeds 90%, but the seroprevalence rate and titer of N, RBD and S-lgM and N, RBD and S-lgA are significantly reduced. That is, the seropositivity rate of IgG antibodies that specifically bind to the three proteins is still over 90%, but the seropositivity rate and titer of IgM and IgA are significantly reduced. Therefore, Cao Bin believes that patients whose antibody levels drop faster may be at greater risk of re-infection. These patients should become at-risk groups. When observing vaccine effectiveness, they should be observed as risk groups.
At present, the study has not been officially published. Cao Bin said that a one-year follow-up study will be planned for the recovery of new crown patients. (Source: Caixin)
A Singaporean newborn has a new crown antibody, and the mother was infected with the new crown during pregnancy
In March this year, a pregnant woman in Singapore was diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia; in early November, she gave birth to a baby boy. As a result, the newborn was not infected with the new crown virus, but also had antibodies. This woman is one of the few people in Singapore who contracted the new crown during pregnancy and gave birth. Whether the antibodies in the baby's body come from the mother or the baby's own production remains to be studied.
A paper published in October by the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases showed that the levels of IgG antibodies in the bodies of 11 pregnant women with COVID-19 in Wuhan were detectable at birth, and the levels of IgM antibodies were detectable in 5 of the babies.
It is understood that IgM is the initial antibody that responds to infection. However, due to the large size of the antibody, it is usually not transferred from the mother to the fetus through the placenta. Smaller IgG antibodies can be transferred from mother to fetus through the placenta. The duration of immunity of maternal IgG antibodies is not known.
Associate Professor Tan Hak Koon, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of KK Women's and Children's Hospital, said that it is still unclear whether the antibodies in the newborn baby can prevent the new crown infection to a certain extent, let alone the duration of this protection. At the meeting, Qiu Qiwen, director of the Solid Waste and Chemicals Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, introduced the main work content of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in the field of medical waste.
Qiu Qiwen said that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is doing its best to do a good job in environmental protection work related to the prevention and control of medical waste disposal. Ensure 100% full coverage of environmental supervision and services for all medical institutions and facilities nationwide, and 100% complete implementation of the timely and effective collection, transfer, treatment and disposal of medical waste. UNAIDS releases 2020 World AIDS Day report
On November 30, the UNAIDS released the 2020 World AIDS Day report "People-centered, we will eventually defeat the epidemic", calling on all countries to increase investment, support the response to various pandemics, and develop a set of bold, Ambitious and feasible new stage HIV prevention and control goals.
The report shows that before the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the global response to AIDS has deviated from the established track, and the rapid spread of the new crown virus has made the situation worse.
According to the model of the long-term impact of the new crown epidemic on AIDS prevention and control, the new crown pandemic will result in an additional 123,000 to 293,000 new HIV infection cases and 69,000 to 148,000 AIDS-related deaths globally between 2020 and 2022.
In 2025, UNAIDS’ new HIV prevention and control goals will be “people-oriented”, focusing on the highest-risk groups and marginalized groups, including young women and girls, adolescents, sex workers, transgender people, injecting drug users and men. Homosexuality and other men who have sex with men.
The focus of the 2025 target includes providing HIV services to more than 95% of the sub-populations of HIV-infected and high-risk groups; reducing countries with punitive laws and policies to less than 10%; and reducing stigmatization and Reduce the discrimination of HIV-infected or affected people to less than 10%; reduce the number of people who suffer from gender inequality and violence to less than 10%.
